Supporting Educators

Senator Preston recognizes that teachers have different experiences depending on the communities where they teach, student demographics and parent involvement.

Because of the diversity of learning environments and the challenges teachers face, Senator Preston fought to create a more equitable teacher evaluation process. That’s why he sponsored and passed a law that will require the Illinois State Board of Education to analyze and assess their evaluation method so that there is an equal playing field for teachers and that their unique circumstances and challenges are taken into account. 

With an equitable evaluation process, Senator Preston hopes more teachers are encouraged to stay in their classrooms and receive proper recognition for the outstanding work they do to support our children.
